Traffic Data Mining workshop

9-10 June, 2002

University of Bristol, UK

This workshop is the kick-off meeting for the SolEuNet WP5 data mining project on the traffic dataset. The goal of the workshop is to work on business and data understanding. The end user, John Bullas from Hampshire County Council, will be present. Additional aims are to become familiar with the latest version of SumatraTT as well as RAMSYS support in Zeno 2.

Resources

Every participant will get an allocated Sun workstation with sufficient local filespace. Participants who want to bring their own laptop can get an IP address if they inform Shaomin Wu in advance about their Ethernet address (something of the form 00 03 93 10 87 4E). The data will be accessible in a DB2 database and through flat files.

Accommodation

We can book your accommodation. Our aim is to put everybody in 1 or 2 places close to each other, and within walking distance of the University. Please confirm your participation and travel details as soon as possible to Shaomin Wu.

Travel

Please allow two full days for the workshop, i.e. arrive on Saturday and leave on Tuesday. You are very welcome to stay for a few more days before or after the workshop.

Via London Heathrow

Take a bus to Bristol. From Terminals 1, 2, 3 this takes approximately 2 hours, from Terminal 4 20 minutes longer. Buses run approximately once every 1.5 hours. The price of a return is appr. 28 pounds. Tickets and advance booking (also international) at http://www.gobycoach.com/. Tickets also available at Heathrow terminals.

Via London Gatwick

More or less same recipe as Heathrow, except bus takes 3.5 hours (via Heathrow).

Via London Stansted/Luton

It's a bit more complicated to reach Bristol from these airports; allow plenty of time.

Via Bristol

There are direct flights to Bristol from Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris, Prague, and several other places. You can check on-line at e.g. Expedia (for Prague, book directly with Go).

From Bristol Airport you can take either a bus to the bus station (single 5 pounds/return 6 pounds), or take a taxi which costs appr. 18 pounds. More route directions can be found here.
