***** 20 March 2003 *****
There are no plans for us to organise a 45th anniversary
as we don't actually own the classic Mini brand and our
small team is, understandably, focused on the keeping up
the standards of new MINI's successful impact in the UK.
The classic Mini has it's own pride of place in the UK's
motoring heritage and, 'im sure you'd agree, it's not really
new MINI's place to be controlling that. I'm sure hundreds
of classic Mini owners (and many new MINI ones too) will
celebrate the 45th anniversary, including the likes of Mike
Cooper and Paddy Hopkirk, and hopefully a lot of those celebrating
will be as fond of the MINI as they are the Mini. If we're
invited to 45th anniversary celebrations then great, but
it's not really our place to be driving a celebration of
1959 - hopefully the cars do that in themselves.
Best of luck with any activities you do get involved in.
Will they include new MINI owners?
Kind regards,
Mark
